February 1, 2014 Trails 25 & 100 Loop
Volunteers completed a long section of new trail in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve. This exceeded the expectations of our host, Paul Paonessa. New volunteers worked on a team with Michael. This seemed to work well. Michael reported his crew was not ready to quit at 1:00. The new section will effectively distance users from the proximity of Thunderbird Avenue, making it a more pleasant hike.

January 15, 2011 North Mtn Park Trail Finishing | | Volunteers gathered to finish this new trail that was created in November 2010. Several sections of the trail were worked to correct the out slope and widen the trail to a correct size. Also, the old social trail that went straight up the mountain was fully obliterated and re-vegetated to discourage any further use. Sand bags were filled and used to obliterate the social trail. Many VOAz members participated in this event and there were several volunteers new to VOAz. A wonderful lunch was prepared by Melissa and we gave away several nice prizes. Thanks to everyone for a very nice looking trail. | | Total Volunteer Hours: 215 Total Participants: 25 | | Event Outputs | | Feet of existing trail maintained (Finished existing trail): 700 | Feet of trail closed for revegitation (Obliterated old social trail): 300 |

November 13, 2010 North Mtn. Park Trail Re-route/Rehab.
Thanks to all the volunteers who came out on a beautiful Saturday in November to help re-route trail 44 in the North Mountain Park and also narrow and re-vegetate the North side portion. The new trail that materialized looks awesome. The thanks really goes to all of the volunteers who worked hard, to REI, the sponsor of this event, as well as the City of Phoenix Parks for helping make this a big success. We also had a great lunch served by REI followed by some great prizes provided by REI. | | Total Volunteer Hours: 548 Total Participants: 67 | | Event Outputs | | Feet of realigned trail built (2 sections with switchback): 700 | Feet of rock wall built: 30 | Leaders trained: 2 | Switchbacks built: 1 |
