Support OutdoorVolunteer.org
|
|
OutdoorVolunteer.org is a free on-line searchable database of opportunities to volunteer outdoors.
It was initiated by Volunteers for Outdoor Arizona (VOAz) in 2008 with support from VOAz, Dorothy
Garske Center, REI, and the Arizona Community Foundation.
Our goal is to make it easy for volunteers to find the opportunities that match their skills, interests and availability.
This service is free to volunteers and to agencies (managers of public and protected lands in Arizona) who enroll with
OutdoorVolunteer.org and post their opportunities on the combined calendar. While volunteers can perform much of the work needed to operate
OutdoorVolunteer.org, we need to cover essential financial costs through special contracts, corporate
underwriting, and individual donations.

Volunteer opportunities with OutdoorVolunteer.org operations
All VOAz programs are designed to maximize volunteer participation and minimize dependence on paid
staff or contractors. The three OutdoorVolunteer.org roles outlined below require broadband
internet access.
Agency Support While outdoor volunteer does not have a 24/7 helpline, we train volunteers to work with agencies
to set up events for the calendar and use the various volunteer management and communication tools available
through the website.
Web Support For security reasons, VOAz need to load certain documents and image files
to the website. Image work will include manipulation of pictures and logos. Volunteers can perform these tasks using freeware.
Website Programming & Maintenance The web site employs ASP.NET 2.0 programing for most dynamic elements.
