Dec 7 - Dec 8    Planning
Arizona Trail  -  Maintenance at Antelope Mountain-Part 2  -  Winkleman
This reach of the Arizona trail is a small part of a major realignment through the Black Hills area completed at the end of the first decade of our current millennium (Passage 12: Black Hills). VOAz built part of that project several miles south of the location of our work area. The work will include tread grooming and drainage improvements. The roughing in of new drainage points in the decomposing granite will be done BEFORE you arrive. Saturday dinner at Maria's in Winkleman.
We will camp at a large flat trailhead site at the point where the Arizona Trail crosses Freeman Road. We will shuttle in 1.5 miles on a section of ranch road + AZ Trail to the start of our work area. At this event, Hotel California will be set up for early morning warmth and on-site food prep of individual meals and a collective Sunday breakfast. WE MAY NEED a volunteer with a truck to help haul a few tools. Ridesharing is encouraged. There are not many spaces but you may get on the waitlist. We may open to more. We will be at the camp area around by 3 pm Friday (6th) More details later.
